SUMMARY:PIANIST BENNY GREEN • TRUE BLUE JAZZ 9th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY CONCERT
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]Purchase Tickets for This Event [/vc_column][/vc_row]\nIn his own words & with heartfelt expression of love for this music…Jazz…Benny Green writes; “nothing can quite get inside you like the feeling of real Jazz.” From his pre-adolescent days\, absorbing the jazz he heard as he sat in the garage studio with his Tenor Saxman Father as he sculpted…Benny learned phrasing\, emotion & authenticity from the dominating jazz & blues artists admired by his Father…served up on his Dad’s portable record player. \nWith inherent natural talent…. schooled by endless musical immersion in jazz & his Dad’s guidance on the importance of being able to read music…Benny Green matured into a jazz force on piano. As a teen he worked in a quintet led by Eddie Hederson. Late High School days found him leading his own band in Yoshi’s Jazz Club in San Francisco. Back in NYC\, things took off for Benny Green. \nIn ’83 performing with Betty Carter\, then ’87-’89 a a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers\, on to Freddie Hubbard’s Quintet\, then in ’91 leading his own band & countless sideman gigs or sessions with the likes of Ray Brown\, Lewis Nash\, Buster Williams\, Terence Blanchard\, Oscar Peterson\, Antonio Hart\, Russell Malone\, Christian McBride\, Roy Hargrove & on & on. \nNow in 2025\, after release of his ‘ThenAndNow‘ Recording\, seasoned jazz piano virtuoso Benny Green is touring his solo piano program. An authentic jazz musician\, he stands as a torchbearer for the continuum of straight-ahead jazz piano. Even more appropriately.…Benny Green will bring this solo concert event to True Blue Jazz ~“Where the Jazz Legacy Lives”\, as we participate in the global celebration of International Jazz Day. This will be our 9th Annual Concert Event in conjunction with the ‘IJD’ organizers\, The Herbie Hancock Institute & UNESCO. \nPlease make plans to join us for this very special REAL JAZZ Concert Performance by one the preeminent curator & archivist of the American Jazz Catalogue ~\nBENNY GREEN…LIVE IN CONCERT at NASSAU VALLEY VINEYARDS WINERY • WEDNESDAY APRIL 30TH \nDoors Open 615pm • Performance Begins 730pm \n“In addition to his rightly lauded abilities at the keys\, his writing is keener than ever… All the more appropriate that this album should be released on Sunnyside\, drenched as it is in the brightest of talents.” – Downbeat Magazine \n“He plays funky and hard\, and breathes not only be-bop but Oscar Peterson’s virtuosic effusions as well.” – The New York Times

SUMMARY:Bobby Sanabria Multiverse Latin Jazz Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]Purchase Tickets for This Event [/vc_column][/vc_row]\n“There are few drummers today who have as much energy and imagination as Bobby Sanabria. He is a percussion colourist of the highest order and his palette is so wide as to encompass all manner of media and idioms—from the iridescent swagger of swing to the spirited canter of the Afro-Caribbean shuffle. His playing is loud and fearless\, yet he can be soft and sensuous when the music demands it.” • LatinJazzNet \nIt’s Bobby Sanabria’s Multiverse Latin Jazz Orchestra!!! \nCelebrating 25 years!!! The multi-Grammy nominated \nBobby Sanabria & His MULTIVERSE Latin Jazz Big Band touts the release of his new recording\, \n“VOX HUMANA” ….featuring vocalists \nJanis Siegel\, Antoinette Montague\, Jennifer Jade Ledesna \nOn the heels of their Grammy nominated and 2019 Jazz Journalists Association Album of the Year Award winning critically acclaimed masterwork\, West Side Story Reimagined\, and in celebration of their 25th anniversary renowed drummer\, percussionist\, composer\, arranger\, bandleader\, educator\, Bobby Sanabria and his Multiverse Big Band return with their most ambitious work to date\, “VOX HUMANA”. Bobby states\, “Over the course of our many Grammy nominated albums we’ve occasionally featured tracks with vocals. But I’ve always envisioned doing an entire vocal album framed by the Multiverse Big Band. Now with three of today’s greatest contemporary singing talents – multi-Grammy award winner Janis Siegel from the Manhattan Transfer\, blues and jazz Queen Antoinette Montague\, and the multilingual powerhouse\, Jennifer Jade Ledesna\, today that vision has finally become a reality. \nThe individually distinct voices that Janis\, Antoinette\, and Jennifer possess make them each unique. But the X factor they all have is they are all masterful improvisors in the best sense of the jazz tradition. Added to the mix is our great congeuro\, Oreste Abrantes\, who also sings lead on two tracks. Having that multi- dimensional vocal talent framed by the power\, nuance\, and tonal variety that only a big band can provide\, combined with the repertoire I’ve chosen to showcase them and the band and the incredible variety of Afro- Latin\, straight ahead swing\, funk\, R&B\, and rock rhythmic vocabulary that we are masters of and readily have at our disposal in the Multiverse\, I believe “VOX HUMANA” will prove to be our greatest achievement. \nBobby says\, “I’m a product of my environment. I’m a Nuyorican\, a person of Puerto Rican descent growing up in New York City. In my case the South Bronx during a time period when pop\, jazz\, R&B\, rock\, funk\, and Latin music of all kinds all co-existed as equals. It was the last era when the big bands of masters like Ellington\, Count Basie\, Buddy Rich\, Machito\, Tito Puente\, Tito Rodriguez\, Don Ellis\, and more were in the public eye\,and they became my heroes. Vocalists who could deliver a message with subtlety\, nuance\, and when needed\, power\, were called upon to deliver poetry crafted by genius song writers. You’ll hear all that and more through the soaring vocals and improv talents of Janis\, Antoinette\, and Jennifer\, along with Oreste\, as well as the incredible jazz-oriented arrangements and exciting Pan Afro-Latin rhythms played by a big band that literally takes no prisoners when it hits the stage.” \n“VOX HUMANA” was recorded live at NYC’s Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. “My musicians represent NYC’s finest. That means they’re the greatest in the world.” Bobby is not kidding!!!
